We cruised aboard the MSC Seaview in June 2023, visiting Barcelona, Cannes, Genoa, La Spezia, Rome, and Palma de Mallorca.
We initially had this booked for during the pandemic and rebooked when it was safe to travel again. Fortunately, MSC allowed us to roll over our credit, which was a great service and allowed us to travel at a time when we wouldn't need to worry about wearing a mask.
The first thing that we noticed about this cruise was that you can embark at any of the stops. We chose Barcelona as we thought it was going to be affordable. Little did we know when booking was that this ship was leaving over Primavera weekend, so flight and accommodation prices increased dramatically. Nevertheless, Barcelona was a lovely port to leave from - we stayed at the Lamaro Hotel Barcelona (formerly Colon) prior to our cruise, and it was a stunning hotel and a great way to start our holiday.
The port that surprised us the most was Cannes. We tendered to the port and found the most delicious bakery - and I still think about the delicious quiche to this day! Top tip, if you're getting a tender to reach your port, you may want to party a bit less the night before as it can be quite a rocky experience.
Adrenaline junkies will love the glass skywalk on deck 16. It’s not for the faint-hearted but the photo opportunities are incredible! We really wanted to try the zip line on this cruise but we ended up not doing it as it really was higher than it looked at first.
🛏️ Cabin Comfort ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We chose a balcony room, a favourite of ours - in a central location so that we had minimal movement. As a couple, it was perfectly spacious. This was our first time on a ship with a bed by the window, which made it feel a bit quieter. A top tip is to avoid choosing a room near the lift as this should help reduce the amount of footfall outside your room.

🍽️ Dining Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐
We were originally assigned a 5:30pm sitting which would not work for us, especially as the Rome stop was a 7pm return. We went to our assigned dining room within minutes of discovering our time and they quickly amended this. We prefer to eat around 7/8pm so we were happy MSC could accommodate our request.
We really enjoyed the main dining room meals, but we did eat in the buffet a couple of times. The best thing about MSC is that they offer everyday dishes such as grilled chicken if you're not feeling adventurous.
🎭 Entertainment ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Although MSC is an Italian cruise line, the entertainment felt designed for everyone - and every European onboard seemed to be loving it. We got really into the evening shows and the themed nights, which always had a great atmosphere. Big crowds would gather at the back of the ship most nights, where an open‑air DJ kept the party going under the stars. We even made friends with a group of girls from Hungary who couldn’t believe we ever bothered getting off the ship because, in their words, the ship was too much fun to leave!
The Garage Club wasn’t used much by guests during our sailing but it certainly looked like a fun space.
Top tip: make sure you pack for a tropical party, a white night party, and a gala night. People really commit to the theme, and you will want to join in.
Families sailing here will enjoy the bowling alley, water park and kids’ club.
🧑🤝🧑 Service & Staff ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
As always on MSC, the staff couldn't do more for us. There were times where we waited to be served at the bar, but we seemed to gravitate to the Shine Bar as we always recieved speedy service here. We also tipped our cabin steward extra to express our gratitude for the attentive service.
💸 Value for Money ⭐⭐⭐⭐
We rebooked this cruise after the pandemic but missed out on any big discounts. We also paid extra for WiFi which felt quite steep. This experience taught me to book well in advance or look out for Black Friday deals.
We really appreciated MSC leaving coach tickets on our door at multiple stops and they were always very reasonable priced. We made sure to take advantage of this service whenever they offered it.
🌟 Overall Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This ship deserves five stars as it truly surprised me. It had the energy of a mega-ship but the service felt intimate and personal. The designs were simply luxurious, and I enjoyed my daily photos on the Swarovski Crystals stairs. The breathtaking atrium was the first thing we saw when we embarked on the ship, and it set the tone for the trip, which the Seaview maintained throughout. The rooms, facilities, and bars were all exceptional. The camaraderie we formed on this ship truly reflects the fun everyone had.
